Auditions for The Hotel Del Gado
Neighborhood Theatre Group is holding auditions for The Hotel Del Gado: An Anthology Play by A.M. Dean, Maegan Murphy, Greg Pizzino, and Aeron C. Wade – Directed by Marisa Dluge
Saturday, January 11 from 2-4pm and Tuesday, January 14 from 7-8:30pm
Callbacks (if needed) will be Tuesday, January 14 at 8:30pm
At The Back Office Studio (13 N Washington St, Ypsilanti)

Please be prepared to stay for the entire 30 minutes. Walk-ins will be seen but those with an audition time will be seen first.
Please bring all known conflicts to the audition as well as a headshot/resume if you have one.
Performance dates are March 7-9 and 14-16 at The Back Office Studio.
Rehearsals begin Monday, January 20. Rehearsals are Mon/Tues/Wed/ evenings from 7-10pm and Saturday afternoons from 1-4pm. Tech week is March 2-6. You must be available for all of tech week.
Actors will receive a small stipend.
All races and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Actors 18 and up that can play various age ranges.
About the Play: The Hotel Del Gado is an anthology play composed of four different short plays that all take place in the same dingy hotel in the late 1970s. This play takes place in the Huron Valley Universe.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN/SYNOPSIS:
Sister’s Motel by Maegan Murphy: Three sisters struggle with their inheritance.
JOY (late 30s/Early 40s, F): The oldest of three sisters. Manages the motel in Huron Valley. Has a tendency to be a bit reckless, unhinged and impulsive. Doesn’t take herself or others too seriously. Loves to have a good time.
PATIENCE (mid 30s, F): The second oldest of three sisters. Works with them at the motel in Huron Valley. Has a type A personality. Is often referred to as being uptight by her older sister. Takes herself and others very seriously.
FAITH (late 20s-early 30s, F): The youngest of three sisters. Works with them at the motel in Huron Valley. Has an easy going and curious nature. Can be easily influenced by others, especially by her boyfriend Mick. Has always been protected in some way by her older sisters.
MICK (mid 30s, M): Faith’s boyfriend of 3 years. Lives with her and works at a warehouse. Is very manipulative and abusive, but somehow charming. Has a talent for talking his way out of things. Is a master of not taking responsibility for his actions.

Johnny “The Pockets” Fontini – (30s/40s, M) a producer.
Peggy Mod – (mid 20s-late 30s, F) the assistant
Gunter Jürgen – (30s/40s, M) a director. Has a German accent.
Vick – (Any Age, M) the gaffer, sound guy, and editor
Momo ASC – (Any Gender) the camera person extraordinaire
Tyler Seymour – (20s/30s, M) the male talent
Cookie Holiday – (20s/30s, F) the female talent
Charles “Charlie” Winston Freeman III – (Teen, M) the best cornet player in Huron Valley
Betty Freeman – (40s, F) Charlie’s mother

R. K. Steeves (40’s-50’s M): Cult deprogrammer.
Slabinski: R. K.’s muscle. Physically imposing.
Meyer Danforth (50’s-60’s M): Wealthy absentee father.
Dustin, A.K.A. “ACHERNAR” (20’s M): Danforth’s son. Member of Father Yed’s Church of the Grand Design.
Stewart Linsman (30s-60s, M): Cult leader. Jim Jones with sci-fi ideals. Constantly wears mirrored sunglasses.
Cultist: A cultist.
Voice: A voice from the next room heard through the wall.
The Dark Room by A.M. Dean: A heroin addicted rockstar is confronted by his own emptiness
Brutal Berlin: (Mid-Late 20s, M) A drug-addled rock musician. Not a star. Primitive, not dumb.
The Emptiness: (Ageless, F) Impossible to Satisfy. M/F Though I prefer female. Ageless.
Arnie: (30s, M) Brutal’s road manager. Base. Desperate.
